The police in Anambra State have arrested a 35-year-old man, Nwabueze Izuchukwu, who allegedly posed as an aide to the Assistant Inspector General of Police to defraud unsuspecting members of the public of over N10million.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Nwode Nkeiruka, the suspect was arrested while defrauding his victims of their hard-earned money under the false pretence of raising funds for the furnishing of the residential quarters of the AIG.
It was gathered that the suspect had pretended to be raising funds for the furnishing of an unknown Residential Quarters and for the installation of a Sound Proof Generating Set for the AIG Zone 13 Ukpo, to defraud his victims of various sums.
Nkeiruka said the suspect has voluntarily confessed to the crime, while investigation is still ongoing after which he will be charged to court.
