IBB: He Said ‘How Is Your Wife Clara?’ I Was Like How Does This Man Know My Wife’s Name-Oshiomhole

One of the experiences that Senator Adams Oshiomhole of Edo North has shared with the public is one that has remained with him throughout his life.

As far as Oshiomhole is concerned, he was caught aback by a comment that was made about his late wife Clara as well as his own posture.

During his speech, Oshiomhole reflected on his time spent as a labour warrior and recalled a moment that was crucial in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria.

He recounted a visit to the Presidential Villa by a delegation of seven labour leaders led by Pascal Bafyau, who had been president of the National Liberation Congress (NLC) at the time. This visit took place during the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.

“As we entered, he said, ‘Oh Adam, you walk like a military officer.’” “Clara, how is your wife?” he questioned, as said by Oshiomhole in an exclusive interview with Symfoni TV. Because that was the name of my late wife, I was thinking to myself, “How on earth does this guy know the name of my late wife?”

The senator stated that the event prompted him to reflect on the extent of information and influence that strong people possessed, even with regard to the private lives of persons who had the audacity to question them.

These experiences, according to him, were the catalysts that shaped his perspective on leadership, service, and the necessity of advocating for the common people of Nigeria.

In the course of his involvement in the labour movement, Oshiomhole, who was also the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), emphasised the importance of having boldness and conviction in addition to agitation. During that period, he was serving as the governor of Edo State.

It was emphasised by him that labour leaders who had the courage to oppose power, despite the risks involved, made significant sacrifices in order to establish the democratic atmosphere that we have today.
