Lagos State Government and APC Mourn the Loss of Fifth Female Council Official in Two Months

The Lagos State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been hit by another tragedy following the d+ath of Mrs. Adebimpe Akintola, Council Manager of Coker Aguda LCDA and Chairman of the Forum of Council Managers in Lagos.

Akintola reportedly d+ed on Monday, September 29, 2025, after a brief illness.

As Council Manager, she served as the administrative and accounting head of her LCDA and also represented her colleagues across the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Forum of Council Managers confirmed her d+ath. “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of our Chairman, Mrs. Adebimpe Akintola, on Monday, September 29, 2025. She served as the Council Manager of Coker/Aguda LCDA until her death,” the forum said.

Her Janazah Prayer was scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, at Al Kitab Mosque, Eleshin, after the Zuhr Prayer, followed by burial at Equitable CDA Muslim Cemetery, Igbe Lara.

Her passing has left colleagues and staff in deep grief, with many describing her as a significant loss to grassroots governance in Lagos. Council Managers act as the administrative and accounting heads of the 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs in the state.

Akintola’s death marks the fifth loss of a female local government official since July 27, 2025, when the current council administration was inaugurated. Others include:
• Aug 13: Mrs. Oluwakemi Rufai, Councillor, Ward C, Ibeju Lekki.
• Aug 18: Mrs. Zainab Shotayo, Councillor, Ward C, Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA.
• Sept 20: Princess Oluremi Ajose, Vice Chairman, Badagry West LCDA.
• Sept 21: Mrs. Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikan, Councillor, Ward F, Somolu.

The string of d+aths has cast a pall over the APC and raised concerns within Lagos grassroots political circles.
