Rivers First Lady Attends Ohochukwu’s Funeral, Hails His Legacy

The Wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Lady Valerie Siminalayi Fubara, on Saturday joined family, friends, and political associates to pay her final respects to the late Hon. Prince Obiandu Ohochukwu, at his funeral service held in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area, hailing his legacy.

Lady Fubara, who was a cousin to the deceased, made a brief stop at his family residence in Nkarahia Community before proceeding to St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral, Isiokpo, where the solemn service took place.

The late Prince Ohochukwu was a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Commissioner in the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, remembered for his dedication to public service and community development.

Delivering a soul-stirring sermon titled “The Number of Our Days on Earth” (Psalm 90:10,12), the Dean of the Church of Nigeria and Archbishop of the Niger Delta Province, His Grace, The Most Rev. Dr. Blessing Enyindah, reminded the congregation of life’s brevity and the need to live with purpose and eternal values.

“It is not how long or short we live that matters, but the value we leave behind on earth. The Scripture reminds us that our time on earth is limited; therefore, we must live wisely and with eternity in view Archbishop Enyindah said

He further observed that while Nigeria’s average life expectancy hovers around 50 years, below the global 70 year benchmark, Christians must ensure every moment counts.

The service drew a large gathering of mourners, including political leaders, associates, family members, and well-wishers from across Rivers State and beyond, who came to celebrate the life and legacy of the departed statesman.
