Mohbad DNA Test Shaky as 2 Approved Labs Reject Embalmed Body Analysis
Fresh controversy has emerged in the ongoing DNA case involving late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, as two of the three court-approved laboratories have reportedly declined to carry out the test.
Counsel to the Aloba family, Oladayo Ogungbe, revealed that the labs stated they do not conduct post-mortem DNA testing on embalmed bodies. Since Mohbad’s remains were embalmed after his d+ath in September 2023, the process would require extracting DNA from tissue samples
The order for the paternity test, between Mohbad and his alleged son, Liam, was issued on February 24, 2026, by Magistrate B.A. Sonuga at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court in Ikorodu to ensure transparency.
The selected labs included DNA Diagnostics Centre (proposed by the applicant), Alpha Bio Labs (submitted by Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi Aloba), and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited (chosen by the court).
However, Ogungbe stated that Alpha Bio Labs and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory confirmed they lack the capacity for such specialised testing. He added that an affidavit has been filed to present this development, stressing it is “incorrect and misleading” to claim Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, deliberately picked incompetent labs.
