2027: Kwankwaso Predicts Overwhelming Northern Support for Tinubu
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Director of Finance, Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Dr. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will enjoy overwhelming support from Northern Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
Kwankwaso in a statement he personally signed on Monday that was made available to newsmen in Kano, dismissed ongoing criticism and attacks on the Tinubu administration as routine election politics.
He said the opposition campaigns and what he described as “calculated propaganda” would not weaken the President’s growing acceptance in the region.
“I can tell you, I was part of the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration. We saw how insecurity allegations and ethnic sentiments were used during elections,” he said.
Kwankwaso argued that many of the region’s long-standing challenges predate the current administration, noting that successive leaders had struggled to fully address them.
“There is no gainsaying that even so-called Northern leaders who served for decades could not solve the region’s problems the way President Tinubu is currently addressing them,” he added.
He acknowledged the security challenges in the North-West, particularly during the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure, but insisted that efforts by the current government were yielding progress.
Kwankwaso further maintained that ongoing federal projects across the North, including rail and road infrastructure, demonstrate Tinubu’s commitment to regional development and will translate into strong electoral support in 2027.
