Take Back Your Rice and Cash, Return Our Children — Oyo Parents Reject Government Relief Items Following Abd¥ctions of Schoolchildren

Parents of schoolchildren abd¥cted during a terr%rist attack in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have reportedly turned down food items, cash, and other relief materials brought by government officials, insisting that their only demand is the safe return of their children.

Residents said the community remains tra¥matized following the vi%lent invasion, during which armed att@ckers stormed Esiele and Yawota areas, abd¥cting pupils, teachers, and other residents. An elderly witness explained that when government representatives visited the affected communities with rice and financial assistance, grieving parents refused to accept the items, stressing that material support could not replace their missing children.

According to accounts from locals, the parents repeatedly emphasized that what they wanted was not relief packages but urgent action to secure the release of the abd¥cted pupils. One resident said the families made it clear they would not accept any form of compensation until their children were brought home safely.

A mother of one of the abd¥cted pupils also recounted how armed men allegedly dressed in military-style uniforms att@cked the community, opened fire, and took away several children, including her daughter. She pleaded with authorities to act quickly and ensure the children are returned alive.

Community leaders further described chaotic scenes during the att@ck, alleging that the principal of a local school was forced to assist the abd¥ctors by driving kidn@pped pupils into a nearby forest before the vehicle was set ablaze. Residents also reported fatalities and theft during the raid, adding to growing fear across the area.

The incident has deepened concerns over insecurity in parts of Oyo State, especially communities located near forest reserves, with residents calling for urgent and effective rescue operations rather than humanitarian donations.
