We Are Actively Working With Nigeria Government On Counterterrorism Efforts — U.S. Secretary Of State, Marco Rubio

United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has said the U.S. is actively collaborating with the Nigerian government and security forces on counterterrorism efforts amid concerns over vi%lence against Christians in the country.

Rubio stated that the cooperation recently led to a joint operation that eliminated the second-highest-ranking global ISIS leader operating from within Nigeria.

Speaking on the partnership, he said: “On Nigeria, many were very concerned about vi%lence against Christians. We are now actively in counterterrorism cooperation with the Nigerian government and Nigerian security forces, including a joint operation a couple weeks ago that took out the number two leader of global ISIS operating from inside of the country, and that continues.”

He added that counterterrorism cooperation between both countries remains ongoing.
