Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has visited the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, in Abuja as discussions regarding the choice of a vice-presidential running mate intensify.
The closed-door meeting follows the conclusion of the party’s presidential primary election in April, where Atiku emerged victorious after defeating both Amaechi and former economic adviser Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to secure the ticket for the 2027 presidential race.

Since the conclusion of the primary election, consultations have shifted toward selecting a good running mate to consolidate the party’s national appeal.
While Atiku has reportedly opted to let the party leadership drive the final decision on the vice-presidential slot, sources confirm that Amaechi remains a leading contender on the shortlist.
