268 Nigerians Fleeing X+nophobic Att@cks Return Home from South Africa
The first batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa following the latest wave of x+nophobic violence has arrived in Lagos.
A total of 268 returnees landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday aboard an Air Peace flight, touching down at approximately 10:30 a.m.
The repatriation marks the beginning of efforts to bring affected Nigerians back home amid renewed att@cks targeting foreign nationals in parts of South Africa.
Officials received the returnees upon arrival as authorities continue to monitor the situation and coordinate further evacuation plans for Nigerians still stranded in the country.
The development comes amid growing concerns over the safety of Nigerian citizens living in South Africa, where recurring x+nophobic incidents have sparked diplomatic tensions and calls for stronger protection of foreign residents.
