Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that the Senate approved a ₦50 million support package for the families of five people who lost their lives during the rescue of the abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State.

Speaking during plenary, Akpabio said the operation claimed the lives of a 28-year-old Army lieutenant from Adamawa State, a police sergeant, another soldier, and two teachers who were being held captive alongside the children. He also noted that several other security personnel sustained injuries during the mission.
