Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said no political party will win president Tinubu in the Federal Capital Territory in the 2027 election, while highlighting his administration’s efforts to increase revenue and execute projects in the nation’s capital.
Wike said he assumed office when the FCT was generating about N6 billion to N7 billion monthly but had increased it significantly
“I came when the revenue we were making was about six, seven billion naira a month. So, you see, it’s not by shouting. Today, by our own hard work, we improved revenue to not less than 35, 40 billion naira every month,” he said.
He explained that the increased revenue was being channelled into priority projects, adding that he had mapped out projects and directed the Treasurer to allocate funds accordingly.
Wike also referenced his time as governor of Rivers State, insisting that his achievements were not accidental and that he had a record of delivering projects.
“I was a governor. Not a governor of any other state, governor of Rivers State. People thought you just came. Let me tell you before harmattan there was cold. I didn’t just come from zero,” Wike said.
He said his move to the FCT was driven by a determination to prove that effective governance was achievable through hard work.
“Look, I came to FCT to prove a point that there’s nothing difficult if you want to work. And whether you agree or not, we have been able to change that narrative. I did it in Rivers State,” he added.
Wike further recalled completing 12 flyovers during his four-year tenure as Rivers governor, saying his record had also made him a target of criticism.
“That’s why you have more enemies. If you take first in the class instead of people to ask how, some people will still say every time he’s always proving he’s the only one that can take first,” he said.
