Nigeria Needs Over 60,000MW Of Electricity To Really Work And I’m Ready To Provide That In Less Than Three Years— AAC Presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore

AAC 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has said Nigeria needs over 60,000 megawatts of electricity to get the country “back to real work.”

Sowore made the statement during an interview on Channels Television, where he was asked how much electricity Nigeria practically needs to achieve 24-hour power supply.

“Before Nigeria can get back to real work, you need over 60,000 megawatts of electricity,” he said.

Asked how long it would take him to fulfil his promise of 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply, Sowore said he would achieve it in less than three years.

“I’ll give you that in less than three years, and I mean it. I’m serious. I’ve done my research, and I’ve figured out how it will work, and I know what to do to change it and which way to put,” he said.

He said achieving the target would create massive employment opportunities across the electricity sector.

“And what this means is that you have massive employment to build both the generation, the distribution, the transmission,” he said.

Sowore also said his plan would allow individuals to participate in the retailing of electricity by generating power from their homes.

“And it will also help you understand that you can retail electricity. That is, individuals can grow electricity on their roof through solar and sell to their neighbours or sell to the regional body around you,” he said.

He added: “And instead of driving Uber as a second job, you can actually be selling electricity from your house.”
