My Father Will Still Be Alive If His Wives Hadn’t Gone Out With Other Men and Infected Him With AIDS,— Seun Kuti Reveals Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has revealed that his father, legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, might still be alive if he had imposed stricter restrictions on his wives’ relationships. Seun made the comments during an Instagram livestream responding to criticism from a woman who claimed that Fela did not deserve the praise he receives because he allegedly infected his partners with HIV and later d+ed of AIDS. Addressing the claim, Seun suggested that Fela was not solely responsible for the transmission of the disease. He argued that one of Fela’s wives may have contracted HIV elsewhere and passed it on to him. “Fela made many mistakes. One day, I saw a video of a lady online saying why are people praising Fela’s legacy despite him giving women HIV and dying of AIDS,” Seun said. He added: If Fela was a traditional man, he would still be alive. I will tell you something about him that you might not have known, Fela’s women all had other men.” Seun explained that his father did not restrict his wives’ freedom, believing that just as he was free to sleep with all his women, they should also be free to meet other men. “Fela did not keep his women to himself. He believed that as he was free to sleep with all his women, his women should also be free to meet other men just don’t bring them to my house. That was my father’s law. And he doesn’t leave his house in search of women; he was always with his women inside. They would be the ones to go out and bring it in.” He further said: “My father doesn’t leave his house to sleep with other women outside, so it was his women who brought HIV home to him. Nobody is perfect. Everybody make mistakes. But Fela is a man that is on the side of humanity.”

The breakthrough began on Wednesday, 11th March 2026, when NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Strategic Command, Ikeja, intercepted 3.10 kilograms of c+c@ine hidden inside tins of palm kernel extract at the airport’s export shed. Two suspects, Idris Olayiwola Amoo and Akinlami Akinsoji Adedoyin, who were handling the shipment, were immediately arrested.

Further investigation and a coordinated sting on Thursday, 2nd April, led to the arrest of the sender of the consignment, Ezemuwo Joel, who was operating under the alias Ajayi. His arrest eventually revealed the identity of the syndicate’s leader, 52-year-old Arinze, who was apprehended at a hideout in Isolo, Lagos.
