A 65-year-old safari tour guide and co-owner of Klaserie Private Nature Reserve in South Africa has d+ed after being trampled by an elephant while leading tourists.

Gary Freeman, an experienced ranger known for his deep respect for wildlife especially elephants was guiding a small group at the reserve in Limpopo Province when an elephant suddenly charged at him. Despite attempts to escape, the animal caught up with him and inflicted fatal inj¥ries.

Tourists who were on the tour reportedly helped rush him to a vehicle in an attempt to get medical attention, but he did not survive.

Freeman, who had worked in wildlife conservation for decades and helped establish the reserve, was known for once saying he would rather be k+lled by an elephant than sh%%t one, reflecting his strong belief in protecting wildlife.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, while experts are also assessing whether the elephant poses a continued risk.
