Super League: Barcelona, Chelsea and Man City quit

English Football giants Chelsea and Manchester City and Spanish club, Barcelona are reportedly are pulling out of the Super League barely 48 hours after its announcement.

There are also suggestions from Ben Jacobs and others that Atletico Madrid too are ready to reconsider.

The deal was only confirmed on Sunday night at 11pm UK time, midnight on continental Europe.

Now there are multiple reports from Britain, including The Times, The Telegraph, The Sun and The Athletic, that both Chelsea and Manchester City have decided to pull out of their commitment to the Super League.

According to TV3 Catalunya, Barcelona President Joan Laporta assured he will not ratify their adherence to the Super League until it has been given the all-clear by the Assembly of Socios.

It is very, very unlikely that they would vote in favour of what seems to have been greeted with universal negativity by the supporters, coaches and players of the 12 founding clubs.

The Super League announcement on Sunday, made by 12 founding clubs had been met with widespread criticism.

The founding clubs are Juventus, Inter, Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.
