Bayelsa State Government Signs $3m MoU With Dubai Firm for Renewable Energy, Smart Metering Plants

The Bayelsa State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai-based Jampur Group for the establishment of renewable energy (solar power) and smart electricity metering production plants in the state.

Governor Douye Diri, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the $3 million private-sector-driven investment marks a significant boost to Bayelsa’s industrialisation and job creation efforts.

Jampur Group, already responsible for the supply and installation of the 60MW gas turbines for the state’s ongoing Independent Power Plant Project scheduled for completion by the end of the year, will spearhead the new projects.

Governor Diri commended the chairman of Jampur Group, Mohammed Shafiq, for partnering with Bayelsa, assuring that his administration remains committed to providing an enabling environment and security for investments to thrive.

He noted that the projects will not only create jobs and skill acquisition opportunities but also strengthen the state’s industrial base.
