From most wanted to finally nabbed: Kanmo-Kanmo’s 12-year escape ends in stunning arrest by NDLEA

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested long-wanted dr¥g kingpin Lekan Jimoh, also known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” 12 years after his alleged involvement in the k+lling of three NDLEA officers. Jimoh was arrested on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Owode town, Ogun State, following intelligence-led operations by NDLEA tactical teams. A search of his hideout led to the recovery of 69 kilograms of skunk, a strain of c@nnabis.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said Jimoh has been on the agency’s wanted list since June 15, 2014, after he allegedly mobilised armed th¥gs to att@ck officers attempting to arrest him at his enclave, k+lling three officers including Rabiu Usman Kazaure. In August 2023, NDLEA operatives raided Jimoh’s residence in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, recovering 139 sacks of sk¥nk weighing 1,922 kilograms. Jimoh escaped arrest at the time, but the property was later forfeited to the Federal Government following court proceedings.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) commended officers across Ogun, Lagos, Apapa, Edo, Delta, Oyo, the FCT, Enugu and Kwara for the arrests and seizures. He described Jimoh’s arrest as a triumph of justice and a clear message to dr¥g barons and fugitives that “you may run, but the long arm of the law will eventually find you.”
