How Morka Responded When Asked If APC Is Comfortable With Wike Leading Tinubu’s Campaign In 2027

The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has reacted to questions over whether the ruling party is comfortable with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, playing a prominent role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Morka’s comments come amid growing political debate surrounding Wike’s dual engagement, as the former Rivers State governor, widely regarded as a key figure within a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has publicly pledged support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition while reportedly maintaining discussions with opposition elements seeking to unseat the president.

Speaking on the matter on Channel’s Television Morning Brief on Thursday, Morka emphasized Wike’s constitutional rights, distancing the APC from dictating the minister’s political choices.

“Wike is not a member of APC. He is a citizen and a free agent who has the right to choose whoever he would support in any election,” Morka stated.

He further reiterated that Wike’s actions are driven by personal conviction, adding that Nigerians should respect his freedom to align politically as he deems fit.

“FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is a citizen and has every right under the constitution to vote as he chooses. Nigerians should respect that,” he said.

The statement signals the APC’s cautious stance on Wike’s political moves, neither fully embracing nor openly rejecting his involvement, as political alignments continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
