A disturbing video circulating online has sparked widespread outrage after showing a restrained suspect being sh+t by a police officer in Delta State.

In the clip, which lasts under two minutes, the male suspect is seen seated on the ground with his hands tied behind his back. He repeatedly pleads for his life, telling officers in Pidgin English that he was deceived by a friend in Sapele and offering to lead them to the person.

“Officers, abeg, I go tell you everything. Na my friend deceive me, I go carry you go the place,” he begged.

Despite his pleas, an officer in mufti is seen cocking his rifle and f+ring at close range. The suspect immediately slumps as bystanders watch. His body was later carried into a Toyota Sienna belonging to the Nigeria Police Force, Effurun Area Command.

Authorities later identified the victim as 28-year-old Mene Ogidi. According to police spokesperson Bright Edafe, the fatal sh+t was f+red by ASP Nuhu Usman, who has since been arrested.

Police said Ogidi was earlier apprehended while attempting to waybill a parcel allegedly containing a Beretta pistol with four rounds of amm¥nition.

Edafe confirmed that Usman’s actions violated Force Order 237 and standard police procedures. He has been transferred to the state headquarters in Asaba and subsequently to Abuja, where he will face the Force Disciplinary Committee for possible sanctions and prosecution.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, expressed condolences to Ogidi’s family, assuring that justice would be pursued.
