German automaker Mercedes-Benz has reportedly filed a complaint with the Italian Carabinieri against Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen over an alleged failure to complete payments for a leased vehicle.

Osimhen, widely regarded as one of football’s most lethal forwards, has enjoyed a stellar rise across Europe, from Belgium and France to Italy and now Turkey. His defining moment came at Napoli, where he fired the club to their first Serie A title in nearly 40 years, cementing his place as a fan favourite.

That success earned him a blockbuster move to Galatasaray, where he now pockets over €20 million annually, making him the highest-paid player in the Turkish Süper Lig.

His wealth is evident in his lavish lifestyle, though he is equally known for generosity, often supporting fans and loved ones. Just days ago, he reportedly funded Nigerian supporters’ trip to Istanbul for a derby clash against Fenerbahce, scoring in the 3-0 win.

But off the pitch, controversy is brewing.

According to Italian outlet Napolista, Mercedes-Benz has alerted authorities over an unresolved issue involving a car leased in 2023. The company claims Osimhen neither completed the purchase nor returned the vehicle, leading to an alleged debt of €90,000 (about ₦142 million).

The development has raised eyebrows, given the striker’s earnings far exceed the disputed sum. Known for his taste in luxury, Osimhen recently flaunted a garage featuring Lamborghinis, a Rolls-Royce, and a Mercedes-Benz, believed to be the car in question.

Neither Osimhen nor his representatives have issued an official response. Observers expect a swift resolution as the forward looks to avoid reputational damage and stay focused on his career in Turkey.
