JAPA: 148 Nigerians Stranded in Sudan Return Home Successfully
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kano Operations Office, has received 148 Nigerians evacuated from Sudan as part of ongoing efforts to bring home citizens stranded abroad.
In a statement on Saturday, NEMA confirmed that the group arrived at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Friday around 2:30 p.m. aboard a chartered Tarco Aviation flight. The returnees comprised 25 men, 27 women, 39 boys, and 57 girls.
Upon arrival, they were moved to Chila Hotel for profiling and documentation by relevant agencies. NEMA explained that the evacuees were not enrolled in any reintegration programme but were provided transport support through ATM cards issued to them shortly after documentation.
The agency described the exercise as “well-coordinated and successfully executed.”
This evacuation follows the ongoing conflict in Sudan, which has displaced millions and devastated infrastructure. The Federal Government, through NEMA and its international partners, continues to monitor the crisis and support Nigerians affected by the unrest.
