I prefer older, divorced men — writer Slumflower opens up on why younger men don’t appeal to her

Writer and media personality Slumflower sparked conversations online after candidly discussing her dating preferences on the Gracefully Said podcast, explaining why she is more attracted to significantly older men.

“Yo! I date much, much older men… People have been annoyed that I said that I’ll date a man that’s my dad’s age. My dad’s 56 I don’t see anything wrong with that. I don’t think anything is wrong with that,” she said.

She emphasized emotional compatibility and maturity as key factors: “I can’t mentally resonate and be at peace with a man who’s, like, 31. 31 is not mature enough for me.” She added that many younger men are still focused on careers and financial stability: “They’re still trying to build yourself… I like men who they’ve been through at least one divorce. Build finish and then come.”

Slumflower prefers partners who have faced major life challenges: “Love a divorcee… because they’ve gone through the stress… they’ve felt the loss.”

Describing her ideal partner, she said, “I like men who somebody else has already kind of, like, whipped them into shape,” noting she is a difficult partner herself. Financial readiness is also key: “If you’re going to be around a woman as flashy, hot and young as me, you must be spending and men who are much older, they’ve kind of made peace with that.”
