Army Recovers Remains of Couple K+lled by suspected IPOB Members While Travelling for Wedding in Imo After 4 Years

The Nigerian Army has recovered the remains of two personnel who were k+lled in 2022 while travelling to Imo State for their traditional wedding.

The couple had been on their way to Gloria’s hometown for what was meant to be a joyful union of their families. Linus, a retired senior non-commissioned officer, and Gloria, who was still in active service, were said to share a strong bond built on love, discipline, and years of sacrifice despite living in different parts of the country.

Their k+lling sparked outrage at the time, adding to growing concerns over insecurity in the South-East.

After nearly four years of search efforts, troops of the 82 Division, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out a clearance operation on April 24, 2026, in the area where the incident occurred.

Security sources said the troops came under heavy att@ck during the operation but successfully repelled the assailants and continued the mission. The team later discovered shallow graves believed to contain the remains of the slain personnel.

The remains have since been recovered and will undergo forensic examination, including DNA testing, to confirm their identities before burial.
